Christina Scull became a member of the Tolkien Society after hearing the BBC radio dramatization of The Lord of the Rings in 1981. She was the Librarian of Sir John Soane’s Museum, London, for two decades, and is the author of the book The Soane Hogarths. She has served as an officer in the Tolkien Society, as its Archivist, and as chair of the Tolkien Centenary celebration. She met her husband, Wayne Hammond, at a meeting of the Society’s Northfarthing Smial. Together they have written books which belong on any Tolkien reference shelf, most recently the second edition of The J.R.R. Tolkien Companion and Guide. They have also edited works by Tolkien, including Roverandom, Farmer Giles of Ham (for its fiftieth anniversary), and The Adventures of Tom Bombadil (for its enlarged pocket edition), and prepared an expanded index to Tolkien’s Letters.
