After a lifetime of working in an office, I have recently relocated to the West of Ireland with my husband, to take creative inspration from the wonderful landscape, people and wildlife of this gorgeous country. I discovered mosaic a couple of years ago after doing a two day course in leafy Suffolk, and found that simply piecing together colourful shards of broken crockery and tile, bead and button, is a relaxing and mindful way of being creative, and make a piece of art that someone can treasure. I studied art at West Surrey College of Art and Design many moons ago, and only now am I returning to my creative roots.

I love collecting beach pottery and sea glass form the coast of Ireland, to use in my pieces, (some washed up from shipwrecks!) and most of the mosaics I make have a little piece of Irish history somewhere included. Lots of my pieces are also made from broken vintage plates and china. It’s such a waste to just throw them into landfill.

Tolkien

Introduced to the Hobbit at school, aged 9, I have been a fan of the works of JRR Tolkien ever since, and some of my most complex mosaic pieces are in homage to the drawings and paintings of the man himself.
